2017 MCBA / Jack Sobel / Schwed, Adams Scholarships Awarded

Jack Sobel, a past president of the Martin County Bar Association, and Schwed, Adams, Sobel & McGinley annually support the Martin County Bar Association (MCBA) Scholarship Fund. Martin County High School Seniors must write an essay in order to be eligible to win. This year the essay addressed the 4th District Court of Appeal case of Jones vs. Williams Pawn & Gun, which had been handled successfully by Mr. Sobel. The issue in the case was constitutionality of the Florida statute that makes it a crime to sell a gun to a person of unsound mind. The winner received a $4,000 college scholarship and the first and second runners up each received a $500 scholarship. Katie Capen and Lema Hussein each were awarded $500 scholarships (see featured image). Allison Evans (shown with Jack Sobel in the image below and with her mother in group photo below) at Jensen Beach High won the $4,000 Scholarship. Congratulations to the winners.
