Hit and Run Kills Pedestrian in Jupiter

Police are on the lookout for a motorist in Jupiter who fatally struck and killed a pedestrian at 10:00 p.m. on a recent Friday night while attempting to flee from police. According to a report regarding the incident from the local ABC News affiliate, police were attempting to perform a traffic stop when the car they were trying to pull over performed an illegal U-turn in an attempt to flee from police. In the process, the car struck a pedestrian and the motorists then abandoned the car and fled the scene on foot. One of the two involved in the hit and run was later apprehended by the police while the other remains at large. For the pedestrian, there is likely no way to expect this situation would ever happen or to prepare yourself. Nevertheless, given that Florida is routinely ranked as the most dangerous state in the country for pedestrians, this incident again highlights the need to do everything you can as a pedestrian to protect yourself from Florida’s unpredictable and dangerous motorists.
