Paul Shalhoub Participates in No Shave November
Schwed, Adams & McGinley attorney Paul Shalhoub recently participated in No Shave November, an annual charity event put on by the Young Lawyers Section of the Palm Beach County Bar Association. This year’s edition of No Shave November raised more than $75,000, the most that a single charity fundraising event put on by the Palm Beach County Bar Association has ever raised before. The funds raised from the event will go to assist the Cancer Alliance of Help and Hope (CAHH), a local non-profit that assists cancer patients in the local community with the many financial struggles that cancer patients and their families often experience. This is just the latest installment of what has been Paul’s extraordinary commitment to assisting the local community and his clients through No Shave November as well as his work representing those who have been injured by someone else’s negligence in the course of his work at Schwed, Adams & McGinley.
Paul Shalhoub’s Long Commitment to Both His Clients and the Community
Paul Shalhoub has been involved with No Shave November since its beginning. He not only helped found the event, but he also has served as its chair every single year. The $75,000 raised this year smashed the previous record high of $46,500 raised by the event in 2019. Since it first started, No Shave November has raised more than $200,000. In April 2019, Paul received the Champion of Help and Hope award from the CAHH for his work with the helping to raise money.
In the courtroom, Paul has experienced similar success in helping the firm’s clients to recover for their damages and injuries suffered because of someone else’s negligence since joining the firm in 2017. In 2020, he won a trial in Miami against Wal-Mart in which the jury found Wal-Mart 100% responsible for his client’s injuries and awarded almost 4 times what Paul’s client asked for before trial. More recently, in November 2021, Paul was successful in obtaining a verdict for a client injured in a rear end collision in Alachua County for more than 20 times what State Farm, the negligent motorist’s insurer, had offered to settle the case prior to trial. In addition to these courtroom victories, Paul has helped Schwed, Adams & McGinley clients to recover millions against the negligent tortfeasors responsible for their injuries in his four years at the firm.
The Cancer Alliance of Help and Hope
The Cancer Alliance of Help and Hope, Inc. is a non-profit based in Palm Beach that works to ease the financial pain for those suffering from cancer by providing financial assistance with some of their non-medical bills and other financial needs given these are often overlooked in their struggle against cancer. Without financial assistance and given the often-tremendous financial burden that such patients and their families are suffering from as a result of a cancer diagnosis, assistance from CAHH can often be the difference between having the electricity shut off or staring down eviction or foreclosure as a result of not being able to work due to the negative effects of chemotherapy or the ravages of cancer. CAHH was founded in 2003 and has raised more than $5 million to distribute to more than 20,000 patients and their families over the ensuing 18 years.
