Attorney Paul Shalhoub Raises Over $20,000 for Charity During No Shave November
Continuing a long tradition of charitable efforts and community service by firm attorneys, Schwed, Adams, Sobel & McGinley, P.A. attorney Paul Shalhoub recently participated in the Palm Beach County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section’s No Shave November fundraiser to raise cancer awareness in the Palm Beach community as well as to raise money to benefit local charities the Cancer Alliance of Help and Hope and the Legal Aid Society. Named as one of the event’s “Headliners,” Paul did not shave for the entire month of November and then had his beard shaved off live at a happy hour presented by the Young Lawyers Section in front of a crowd at the PGA Resort & Spa West Palm Beach. According to an article from WPTV West Palm Beach, Paul was instrumental in establishing the fundraising event and was quoted as saying “‘There’s just too little knowledge and focus on men’s health cancer issues. There are millions of men out there who are cancer patients and cancer survivors. And unfortunately, the way it is, it’s just they are overlooked too often.’” Paul was also interviewed live at the event on November 30th by ESPN West Palm Beach regarding why he started the fundraiser. As stated by him, he found that many participated in No Shave November but they weren’t raising money for the cause. Paul stepped in and initiated the month as a fundraiser, which this year doubled the monies raised. Schwed, Adams, Sobel & McGinley were also sponsors of the event.
The Cancer Alliance of Help provides assistance to those who are fighting cancer by providing them with financial assistance for the day-to-day expenses that they may struggle to afford while paying for expensive cancer treatments, such as health insurance premiums, rent, mortgage, car payments and car insurance.” The event raised over $20,000, more than double what was raised in the 2016 campaign. Paul also has a long history of volunteering in his community, recently being elected to the Lake Clarke Shores City Council after having previously served as Vice Chair of the town’s Code Enforcement Board. In addition to his full time job representing the injured, Paul also somehow finds time to also perform pro bono Guardianship Work for the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County.
Other Charitable Efforts by Schwed Adams Attorneys
In addition to representing the victims of motor vehicle accidents and other personal injuries, the experienced personal injury attorneys of Schwed Adams, Sobel & McGinley have a long history of giving back to the community. Firm attorney Jack Sobel established an annual golf tournament called the Sobel Cup (named after his father) to raise money for scholarships for deserving Martin County high school students to attend college. The Sobel Cup features an essay contest, with the winner receiving a $4,000 scholarship as well as two $500 scholarships to the first and second runners up.
