Tavis Souder: Using His Knowledge of the Insurance Industry to Passionately Fight for His Clients

It was during his undergraduate studies that Tavis Souder began developing his passion for the legal field. He joined the University of Central Florida Mock Trial Team and competed all over the country. After graduating from UCF he attended the Florida State College of Law where he set his sights on becoming a prosecutor. Upon receiving his degree he returned to his hometown to become an Assistant State Attorney in the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County. Beginning as a misdemeanor prosecutor he honed his trials skills and worked his way up through the felony ranks and eventually was promoted to handle the most serious manslaughter and vehicular homicide cases.

Upon leaving the State Attorney’s Office he accepted a position as in-house counsel at Allstate Insurance Company. His background as a prosecutor allowed him to make an easy transition to the practice of insurance defense. While there Souder handled hundreds of lawsuits and tried several actions while defending Allstate and their clients.

In 2014 Tavis joined Schwed, Adams, Sobel & McGinley to represent individuals who have wrongfully suffered injuries as the result of the negligence of others. Tavis’ work as in-house defense counsel gives him a unique perspective on how major insurance companies defend legal actions and he now uses that knowledge to the benefit of his clients. He brings a passion for representing the injured in all matters from motor-vehicle accident and premises liability to catastrophic injuries and wrongful deaths.

Being born and raised in Lake Worth in Palm Beach County, Florida, Tavis grew up loving the outdoors and you could typically find him on the soccer field. Nowadays the practice of law consumes a great deal of his time, but he continues to stay active participating in competitive races and squeezing in a soccer game every once in a while.
